Larry Dyer has a doctorate in Entomology from Michigan State University and has worked in the realm of sustainable and organic agriculture and agricultural ecology for over 30 years. He has played a leadership role in the Local Food Alliance of Northern Michigan since its inception. The Mackinaw library will be introducing its new seed library that is available for patron’s use. Patrons are encouraged to bring their extra seeds as there will be time to exchanges seeds, stories and enjoy refreshments.  This program is open to the public at no cost and with no registration needed.

 

Partial support for this seed saving program comes through the Local Food Alliance with funds from the USDA Risk Management Agency (RMA). The Local Food Alliance is a partner on a USDA RMA grant administered by the Crosshatch Center for Art and Ecology, a non-profit organization based in Bellaire that works to build strong communities through efforts that integrate art, farming, ecology and economy.
